This position is responsible for overseeing the Credit and Collection efforts of approximately $300m of accounts receivable for the US Industrial Gas and Hydrogen businesses.


This position is responsible for the credit and collections team-currently a team of 7. In addition, the position works closely with Area Sales Directors and Region Controllers performing credit and collections management for the largest and most sensitive customer accounts at Praxair. The position performs credit analysis on potential new customers as well as oversees the established credit limits for existing customers. The position is responsible to oversee team development and training, internal and external audit related requests, daily operations management, DSO goal tracking, cash collections forecasting and risk mitigation.


  • Ensure monthly cash collections, past due percentages and DSO plan targets are met.

  • Direct and execute strategies to manage uncollectible or past due accounts.

  • Collaborate with internal team and regional resources to support best collection efforts.

  • Oversee initiation and coordination of legal action on matters pertaining to collection.

  • Direct and manage the development, uniform implementation, and administration of policies, procedures, activities, and standards for credit and collection functions for all US Industrial Gas and Hydrogen businesses.



  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business or Finance preferred. MBA or Professional Certification is desirable.

  • Minimum of 10 years of prior Credit and Collections experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience.

  • Experience and ability to identify and manage conflict in a proactive manner. Assertive, excellent communication (verbal and written) skills to balance strong interpersonal, negotiation, and management skills and strong business acumen with high focus on collection efforts.

  • Ability to demonstrate past leadership experience by effectively managing team of professionals at all skill levels.

  • Must be a strong self-directed professional with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced demanding environment, handle multi-tasks, problem solve and effectively follow-through.

  • Work collaboratively with sales, customers, and all internal partners.

  • Have a strong ability to network externally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proven self-management, influencing and leadership skills.

  • Must have highly developed Interpersonal, organization, problem-solving, and customer focus skills.

  • Ability to travel on as needed basis (limited).
