VicePresident of Operations is accountable for providing strategic leadership toUSIG Operations and Services to ensure that business vision and strategies ofoperating facilities and operations support functions are consistent with thoseof the USIG regional businesses. This includes the operations related toASUs, CO2 plants, hydrogen plants, standard plants, customer service, and tanksupply.
Based at one ofPraxair’s major hubs in Chicago or Houston and reporting directly to Presidentof USIG, this position directly supervises the directors of engineering,reliability, safety, operations and on-site business development. Directly responsible for an annual expensebudget of$50 million (100–170 people).
Essential Duties &Responsibilities:
Accountable forstandard plant operations, IMPAC, safety and environmental services, Six Sigma,central plant administration, cost reduction, operations engineering,reliability engineering, merchant supply systems, administrative support, andcall center activities.
Works closely with USIGregion vice presidents and vice president of distribution to serve as a singlepoint of contact for operations support.
Approve and implementshort- and long-range plans, operating policies, and procedures. Lead annualstrategic planning process for Operations in support of the company’s long-termgrowth and business expansion objectives.
Examines strategicissues such as opportunities for innovation, workforce planning, operationalcapabilities, and maintaining competitive advantage.
Provides resources toensure standardized work processes across all operating entities in USIG,development of standard operating and maintenance procedures, maintenance ofregulatory compliance, training, diversity and bench programs for operations,automation and technology leveraging.
Requirements and Qualifications:

Position will require60-70% travel during the first year; expected to level off at 30-40%thereafter.
