As an Electrical Designer you will be responsible for development of electrical systems and controls packages for construction of industrial gas processing facilities. The Electrical Designer will create deliverables using AutoCAD 2D and 3D as part of an integrated team of designers and engineers. Typical deliverables include, cable tray routing, lighting, power, grounding, instrumentation and heat tracing, conduit routing plans and installation details. These deliverables are required for construction of Owner operated industrial gas processing facilities. Position requires both 2D and 3D design modeling and instrumentation database skills. As a minimum this position requires 3 or more years of experience in detail design of chemical or refinery processes.
This position requires technical communication and interface with Project Managers and Multi-discipline engineers to create electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction packages utilizing AutoCAD, Bentley OpenPlant, AutoDesk Plant 3D, or Intergraph Cadworx software. Must have knowledge in the area of Detail Design Project Execution and understanding of the deliverables typically generated for E&I packages.
This position leads into development as an Electrical Design Engineering Specialist capable of performing cable tray, lighting illumination, cable pulling tension, voltage drop, and cable sizing calculations and specification.
In support of operating facilities electrical systems troubleshooting and upgrade projects it will be essential to have a desire to gain cross functional design and operations knowledge. Tasks within operating facilities include project scope definition and planning as it relates to installation of electrical equipment.
Position will require up to 25% travel to project site locations during the development process and to construction sites during project execution.
A successful candidate will typically need the following experience
Good working knowledge of application of 2-D CAD tools and databases used in development of conceptual facility design deliverables of some complexity.
Discipline to provide technically accurate, and consistent quality deliverables for all assigned project deliverables.
Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulatory codes.
Thorough understanding of the fundamentals for Electrical Detail Design Engineering.
Be capable of performing project setups, using established engineering and design standards.
Some field experience.
Minimum Essential Requirements
Minimum of a two year Associates in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering or in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Specialized courses in relevant general design or an appropriate engineering discipline, AND
Progressive work experience in detail design both 2D and 3D with concentration on design of industrial gas processing facilities.
3 or more years of detail design of electrical systems for industrial facilities.
Demonstrated experience in development of detailed design packages for construction and or fabrication.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside the company
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with AutoCAD 2D/3D.
Experience with 2D and 3D design tools, Bentley AutoPlant, OpenPlant, or SmartPlant
Bentley ProjectWise experience
Experience with Microsoft Project
Experience performing engineering tasks such as cable tray sizing, cable sizing, electrical systems specification.
Knowledge of systems, equipment, applications of design methods, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project design deliverables within the discipline.
Effective English written and verbal skills
Field or construction experience
