Lead cross-functional teams in developing the economics and competitive analysis for new ‘over-the-fence’ and pipeline hydrogen opportunities and ensure that business objectives around profitability and returns are met. Develop organizational alignment amongst regional sales and business management, global account management, engineering and business development resources to develop and secure opportunities. Act as the liaison between Chinese based companies looking to invest in the U.S. and between Praxair Global Hydrogen project resources in the U.S. and Praxair Engineering and Execution resources in China and Asia. Develop proposals for the supply of hydrogen and/or other industrial gases to refinery and chemical customers. Participate in the negotiation of ‘over-the-fence’ and pipeline supply agreements in conjunction with the regional business and legal departments. Develop an understanding of the financial drivers and key operations at target opportunities. Perform hydrogen optimization studies and other refinery system related studies such as evaluating Fluid Catalytic Cracker (FCC) and Sulfur plant oxygen enrichment opportunities. Provide technical and market insight and support to others within the business development and sales team. Utilize process simulation packages, thermodynamics, and reaction engineering knowledge for ongoing project work.
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field plus seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the position offered, or as a Director, Refinery Services and Business Development; Senior Strategy Advisor/Business Development Lead; or a related position. Must have seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience with: Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analyses; Project financial exposure modeling; Fluid Catalytic Cracker (FCC) process simulation; Unisim; Hydroprocessing and Hydrocracking technologies; Formulating various refining and chemical process configurations, intake and yield calculations, and operating cost estimates; Integrating the upstream and downstream processes and performing overall material balance and economics; and Conducting competitive intelligence (CI) analysis, including industry trends, competitor moves and market development. Must have three (3) years of experience with: Refinery hydrogen network optimization tools; FCC NOx emission reduction technology; FCC oxygen enrichment and Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) oxygen enrichment; and Hydrogen Production Technologies such as Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) and Methanol Cracker; Hydrogen Recovery Technologies such as Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA). 20% travel is required to various and unanticipated Praxair offices and client sites nationally and internationally.
