Quality Control Engineer

Description

Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking a Quality Control Engineer at our Indianapolis, IN location.

The Quality Control Engineer (QCE) position will work closely with the Plant Quality Manager (PQM) to drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost improvements to satisfy our customers. The position works with little supervision, receiving very general guidance and direction. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Quality Control Engineer

  • Complete and submit customer required quality and substantiation documentation, such as FAIRs, Quality Control Plans, CAPAs, QEMs, etc.;

  • Train internal staff on customer requirements, quality checks and associated process documentation;

  • Maintain S1000/AC7004 (AS9100)/Special Process (NADCAP) registrations and others, as applicable;

  • Supports the PQM in internal/external audits and the resolution of any findings from such;

  • Writes reports including the generation and analysis of statistical data;

  • Reviews and approves tech plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)/Job Instruction (JI) documentation;

  • Prepares reports to document findings and recommendations as to processes, materials, and project directions;

  • Coordinates and/or performs internal audits per established schedule to evaluate location's compliance;

  • Coordinates external audits by customers, corporate quality and registrar if applicable;

  • Develops and implements corrective actions to address non-conformances identified by audits;

  • Coordinates and/or maintains process gages to ensure calibration and proper operation;

  • Develops/reviews/revises quality system procedures and SOPs as required;

  • Maintains and controls procedures, instructions, and records;

  • Relevant temporary change authorizations (TCAs) are maintained and kept current;

  • Coordinates and schedules training for quality programs as well as maintains training records;

  • Supervises quality personnel/technicians including training, direction, controlling work procedures, etc. to meet objectives; and

  • The QCE will serve as the liaison when the PQM is off site.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering / Technical degree is preferred.

  • Experience/knowledge of principles and practices within quality systems as well as the ability to develop conclusions from statistical analysis and apply results to Praxair business operations.

  • Experience with ISO, AS9100, NADCAP quality systems strongly preferred.

  • Must be able to manage projects with minimal supervision and possess personal computer proficiency with Microsoft Suites, Oracle, Lotus Notes, SQL, Minitab (or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Effective communication with both internal and external customers both orally and in writing required.

PST is a supplier which abides by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As such, persons considered for this position must be either a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder) or otherwise classifiable as a U.S. person under relevant ITAR regulations.
