Distribution Superintendent

Description

We are currently seeking a Distribution Superintendent to be based at our Pittsburg, CA location. This position will report to the Northern CA Area Manager. The Distribution Superintendent is primarily responsible for the day to day management of distribution operations at Pittsburg CA, Benicia CA, and Galt CAwhich includes direct management of 30 drivers and 3 mechanics. This includes implementation of safety programs, training, meeting fixed and variable cost commitments, compliance with quality system and government regulations. This position requires a combination of office work and field work. Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of the contract carriage operations

  • Coaches a team of 30 drivers on safety and delivery performance.

  • Takes actions to improve efficiency of the fleet by reviewing KPI’s, communicating opportunities to contract carrier management team and logistics.

  • Resolves customer delivery issues communicated by drivers

  • Responsible for a truck maintenance shop where mechanics maintain equipment in accordance with DOT and Praxair guidelines

  • Communicate daily with logistics regarding driver availability, over the road issues, etc

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience

  • 2 years distribution management experience

  • Operations, Distribution, Logistics, and/or Transportation experience a plus

  • Excellent communication, team interaction and presentation skills.

  • Self-starter, who is comfortable working independently, effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency with computers and standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.).

Must have a positive attitude, be willing to quickly adapt to changing situations, have strong communications skills, and a strong willingness to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines
