We are currently looking for an Automation Engineer at its North Haven, CT facility.

DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Interpret customer's specifications and requirements for given project assignments.

  • Direct company resources to fulfill project requirements.

  • Work with Sales, Marketing and customers to establish project specification

  • Maintain and oversee automated coating cells

  • Troubleshoot control systems.

  • Provide support to manufacturing for production by working with shop personnel or producing components personally.

  • Supervise and advise on aspects of thermal spray system applications.

  • Assist in the writing of job instructions and related documentation.

  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned.

  • Responsible for programming and maintaining automated coating cells in the North Haven Plant.

  • Support automation efforts in other 2 plants in Northeast USA

  • Assist plant with determining root cause of coating related issues and provide sustainable corrective actions.

  • Ensuring functionality of equipment designed.

  • Ensuring smooth transfer of necessary information to QC and manufacturing.

  • Ensure open and clear communication within the department and between departments.

  • Be the main point of contact for troubleshooting equipment

  • Find opportunities to improve existing processes through automation projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Master’s degree preferred

  • 2 – 5 years of automation engineering

  • 5 – 15 years product design related experience

  • Knowledge of Natl. Electrical Code, NFPA regulations, and EN directives.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, MS Project)

  • Experience with CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, etc)

  • Project Management Experience

  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electric and hydraulic systems.

  • Knowledge of robotics, sensor factory automation and controls.

  • Design of control systems using sensors, PLC's and other electronic components.

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC software; structure, access and ability to develop and write code.

  • Knowledge of Visual Basic Software; structure, access and ability to develop and write code

  • Effective project management skills with the ability to complete multiple projects independently

  • Proven ability to combine theoretical training with practical experience in a "hands-on" environment required

  • Must have personal computer proficiency, business administration know-how, and a working knowledge of quality control systemsPreferred

  • Thermal spray coatings application development experience

  • Six Sigma trained, green belt or black belt preferred
