Inside Sales / Counter Sales – Relief Driver

The Inside Sales Representative [Counter Sales] position will be responsible for performing sales activities inside the store. This position will also act as a customer service representative to develop sales relationships with walk-in and telephone customers and ensure that customer’s needs are met in a professional and timely fashion.

Major responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for the efficient processing of customer orders, answers and responds to telephone and walk-in sales orders and product inquiries

  • Sell gases and welding products to walk-in and telephone customers

  • Maintain appearance of the branch and maintain stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom.

  • Use knowledge of welding applications and products to ensure Praxair products meet customer requirements

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager

There is also a requirement to provide occasional driver relief, where you will be responsible for:

  • Operating/driving a 1 ton truck delivering high pressure cylinders, liquid containers and hard goods to customer locations

  • Loading and unloading cylinders, count and record quantities and styles of product to ensure actual load complies with shipping documents

  • Check and placard vehicle according to Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations

  • Complete trip reports, fuel tickets and other necessary reports

  • Conduct pre and post trip inspections noting and explaining defects or deficiencies

Qualifications

Qualifications - Education and Professional experience:

  • Valid, incident free, applicable provincial Class 5 Driver's License - air brake endorsement considered an asset.

  • Minimum 2 years inside sales or counter sales experience

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training

  • Strong commitment to safety

  • A proven background of meeting sales and margin goals and gaining new customers.

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision in a fast paced environment

  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand gas systems and products would be an asset.
