SDS Technician


Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 250 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking a Production / Powders Technician in our Powder Plant located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Production / Powder Technicians are responsible for a variety of complex operations and duties in a production environment from preparing necessary materials (e.g. powders, ceramics, etc.) and operate manufacturing and materials handling equipment. Clean and setup process equipment following product manufacturing skills. Production / Powder Technicians need to have a high degree of interest working in a busy production environment with a strong focus on quality and ability to multi-task.

Production / Powder Technicians

  • Working safely is our number 1 priority!!

  • Utilize control documents and written procedures as well as follow verbal instructions

  • Verify and document/report weights, product ID, PS number, quantity, etc.

  • Use PC to create and obtain pertinent information

  • Training on running IP testing

  • Inspect and test products to monitor and control manufacturing processes

  • Exposure to and assist on special projects

  • Work as a team member as assigned

  • Participate in statistical process control training

  • Assist in annual plant physical inventory

  • Supervised training on non-routine maintenance of necessary equipment

  • Exposure to and active participation to 5s

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Operate fork trucks

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Perform all duties in a safe manner consistent with corporate and facility-specific health and safety policies



  • High School degree or equivalent is required

  • Basic mechanical skills (e.g. assemble, disassemble mechanical equipment.)

  • Ability to use hand tools

  • Basic math skills (e.g. arithmetic, fractions and percentages.)

  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing and/or plant environment is preferred

  • Must be physically able to lift up to 40 lbs., stand 8hrs or sit 8hrs, with or without accommodation

  • Fork truck and personal computer experience is desired

  • Ability to follow detailed written instructions

  • Working extended hours and/or weekends and holidays may be required

  • And all duties as instructed

Praxair Surface Technologies offers full benefits and 401k. This position pays $14.50/hour with $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd or 3rd shift.
