Description

Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking anOperations Supervisor / Cell Leaderfor our Indianapolis, IN location.

The Operations Supervisor / Cell Leader will directly supervise hourly skilled team members and will be directly responsible for production in a manufacturing environment.

Operations Supervisor / Cell Leader

  • Embrace and educate employees on the continuous improvement culture, apply tools and leadership to improve business metrics.

  • Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through daily shop floor meetings, effective communication, and develop an efficient team which executes production requirements, changes, customer needs and process improvements.

  • Establish standards for work effort and performance of subordinates. Provide timely honest feedback on performance standards. Raise the performance bar and advise associates when they are above or below standards. Reward associates for excellence and hold them accountable for their actions.

  • Establish/maintain cross-training plans and track associates skills matrix qualifications achieved

  • Ensure employees are fully trained in all aspects of safety and abide by safety rules and practices.

  • Establish cell work schedules taking into account customer requirements, resources and other priorities.

  • Effectively manage production overtime to meet customer need. Ensure equitable distribution based on training and business need.

  • Ensure cells’ equipment is clean, organized, properly maintained and uptime is maximized

  • Develop cell operational metrics specific to each product line/cell and track performance.

  • Understand the Cells financial impact to the business.

  • Drive cell Lean principles with energy and passion into the organization – be a champion for change.

  • Effectively communicate business needs and priorities across the organization to complete projects and tasks.

  • Schedule vacations and maintains attendance records for all team members.

  • Communicate with customers as required.

  • Participate in Root Cause/Corrective Action process in all safety and quality occurrences

Lead/develop understanding for cell capacity to ensure

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred)

  • 5-7 years minimum of operations, process improvement or training and implementation experience

  • Previous leadership experience preferred

  • Must have excellent organization skills; communication skills and computer proficiency
