Project Engineer

Description

Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join its team in Ellisville, MS .

The Project Engineer will support the project director with facilities for platinum plating, vapor phase aluminide, thermal spray, corrosion coatings, suspended plasma spray and electron beam physical vapor deposition and associate ancillary processes. Individual will be responsible for specification, installation and integration of process equipment. The Project Engineer will also be required to travel and engage in all activities associated with equipment procurement and installation.

Project Engineer

  • Developing project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management

  • Determining project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; company engineering standards; preparing cost estimates

  • Determining project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning resources to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors

  • Determining project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project element

  • Maintaining project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems

  • Controlling project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions, and conferring with management.

  • Controlling project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts

  • Preparing project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions

  • Interpreting and revising detailed CAD drawings, BOMs, and other engineering documentation

  • Participating in design and drawing reviews along with verification testing and documentation

Qualifications

  • 4 year technical degree and at least 5 years related experience

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, including basic wiring diagrams

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings

  • Skilled in the use of currently available test and measurement equipment

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office based computer programs such as MS Project, MSOffice, AutoCAD Etc.

  • Must be familiar with Oracle or similar application

  • PMP certification preferred

  • Ability and willingness to travel 10-25% domestically and internationally
