Talent Acquisition Specialist / Recruiter

The position is responsible to perform the full cycle recruiting activities across multiple disciplines and, build and maintain talent pipelines for future hiring. The recruiter will provide expertise on the current trends and practices in talent acquisition.The position will be located in Calgary or Edmonton or Winnipeg.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong partnerships with client groups and the field HR team to ensure timely and effective planning of recruitment activities

  • Keep momentum going on approximately 40 to 50 requisitions in various stages, various roles in various locations

  • Build and manage requisitions as per our process in the applicant tracking system (ATS): Taleo

  • Create and customize online job postings

  • Develop a proactive sourcing strategy and place the posting on various job boards, association groups, schools or other media as appropriate for the position

  • Screen resumes and perform phone interviews to build a short list of qualified candidates to be evaluated by hiring managers

  • For identified roles build and maintain a pipeline of skilled candidates ready to be interviewed by hiring managers

  • Offer a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process

  • Effectively promote career opportunities at Praxair Canada Inc.

  • Contribute to projects or other related tasks as assigned


  • Secondary School Graduate - Post secondary studies in Human Resources or Business Administration

  • Minimum of two years of experience in full cycle recruitment in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with Taleo or other full cycle applicant tracking system [vacancy to hire] required

  • Must understand the geography and challenges of approximately 60 locations in Western Canada.


  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and listening

  • Strong basic recruitment skills such as reviewing resumes, building interview guides, interviewing, attraction and sourcing

  • Efficient organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated accuracy, the ability to prioritize and attention to detail are critical

  • Have a sixth sense about people and can find the truth in every candidate

  • Recognize great talent and proactively find the right spot for the right candidate

  • Proficient in developing professional relationship with HR partners and hiring managers.

  • Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation to drive continuous business process improvement

  • Strong computer and administrative skills with a high degree of attention to detail

  • Creative solution finder
