Maintenance Technician

Description

Praxair Surface Technologies, Biddeford, Maine is a leader in the Turbine Hardware Coating field with customers all over the world. The Biddeford Facility was opened in 1991 and employs approximately 75 people. Globally, Praxair employs over 26,000 employees in 50 countries. We have an outstanding maintenance opportunity at our Biddeford Plant.

The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of skilled mechanical and electrical duties to install, repair, troubleshoot or modify plant equipment, in support of furnace coating applications on flight turbine hardware.

Typical repair activities may include

  • Recognizing a problem

  • Coordinating repairs with production

  • Safely isolating the equipment from supply

  • Determining potential hazards and filing permits

  • Organizing the work area for safety and efficiency

  • Operating and interpreting diagnostic equipment

  • Understanding mechanical and electrical drawings

  • Interaction with the manufacturer

  • Disassembly

  • Specifying and ordering parts

  • Reconditioning parts

  • Installing parts

  • Trial operations

  • Management of change - training

  • Other Duties Assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma

  • 8 years Industrial Maintenance experience

  • Good communication and organizational skills

  • Basic computer skills Preferred Experience: Electrical Certification Industrial equipment maintenance

  • Electrical skills - High voltage and controls wiring

  • PLC troubleshooting skills

  • Welding - any type

  • Machine shop equipment and tools

  • Vacuum systems knowledge

  • Technical school degree
