Lead Field Service Technician
The Praxair Field Service Lead Technicianis a key member of the Operations team. The Lead Technician supports the safe, reliable and efficient operations of Air Separation plants in the Western US.A successful candidate will be one who demonstrates technical skills, self-motivation, and leadership in safety, quality, operations, trouble shooting, technician development, and plant profitability. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong technical abilities in production processes or air separation, along with instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems.
The Field Service Lead Technician is the technical "go to" person for the area. Excellent communications and a track record of demonstrating initiative are a must. In addition, the Field Service Lead Technician has a key role in the training and development of new and veteran technicians. The Lead Technician works closely with the plant technicians, management, sales staff, and other technical support engineers.
This position requires overnight travel of approximately 50%, including occasional trips to support activities outside of the immediate area of responsibilities.
The Western Field Service Lead Technician should reside central to the assigned territory: Albuquerque, NM of Rio Rancho area .
The Field ServiceLead Technician will betrained in Praxair safety, operations, systems, and work processes needed to perform the job safely and efficiently.
Western Operations Supervisor and Western Area Manager
Provide leadership and guidance in safety, quality and operation activities at each plant location.
Assist in routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas analyzers, electrical controls systems and pneumatic control valves as needed.
Assist in coordination of contractors and resources, both internal and external to Praxair to support plant activities, audits and all administrative requirements for various plants as needed.
Maintain and improve plant efficiency.
Assist and direct the training and development of new employees.
Self-Management and initiative demonstrated by devoting time and resources to multiple plant sites in the Western US area.

In addition to being able to sit, stand, climb, walk, read, talk, see and hear to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities:
Drive a service (pickup) truck up to 2 or 3 hours per day and up to 8 hours on occasion.
Perform office work requiring sitting at the computer and other administration duties 1 to 3 hours per day.
Walking on flat or uneven surfaces and in areas of crushed stone.
Bending, stooping, and working from just above the ground to 6 foot elevation
Use of stairs and ladders for elevated work.
Lifting 5 to 15 lb loads is performed daily.
Lifting 15 to 45 lb loads is done on an intermittent basis.
Lifting over 45 to 75 lbs is done occasionally.
Upper body work activities, including using wrenches, hammers, and similar tools
Use of power tools such as drills
Use of fingers/fine manipulation (such as instrumentation calibration)
Must carry Company Cell phone and laptop for immediate availability.
Up to 50% travel time
The Praxair Field Service Lead Technician is a salaried position with overtime. Base annual salaries start at $70,000 to$ 75,000 plus overtime, depending on experience. High School Degree required
Associate's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred
2 - 5 years of technical expertise is highly desirable in many of the following fields:
Air separation or similar complex process control function
Instrumentation and control
Trouble shooting complex systems
General maintenance of industrial equipment
Compressors and compressor maintenance
Industrial mechanical maintenance
Industrial electrical or electrician
Industrial or Commercial Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Military technical fields
Machinist Mates, Electrician Mates, Gas Turbine Technicians, Boiler Technicians.
