POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for managing the strategic sourcing process for five to six low level, locally sourced commodities for the Central Region with a managed spend of approximately $6MM. You will act as commodity owner and focal point for multiple Praxair businesses on the assigned commodities.

PROCUREMENT ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages five to six low level locally scoped commodities for the Central Region

  • Assists in the development of strategic plans for those commodities that are assigned as primary responsibilities.

  • Solicits and analyzes quotations; selects successful supplier/contractor and completes purchases within set boundaries.

  • Procures equipment, materials, engineering and construction services from approved suppliers at the lowest evaluated cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability and delivery.

  • Utilizes management control tools and provides feedback to sourcing and business stakeholders.

  • Serves as a key contact for suppliers, engineering, operations, and project management for assigned commodities/business units.

  • Follows procurement standards and quality systems, and focuses on compliance with procurement processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business, Marketing, Engineering or related fields preferred.

  • An Internship in Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Business, Sales or related field is required, 1-2 years’ of work experience a plus

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills

  • Strong team working and influencing skills in a matrix organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong PC skills, especially with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with strong time management skills and the ability to handle multi-tasks, and follow-through.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% is preferred
