Continuous Improvement Engineer


Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seekingContinuous Improvement Engineers (CI Engineers) nationwide.

The successful candidate must possess the knowledge and skill required to facilitate breakthrough improvements in key processes and will focus exclusively on Six Sigma and/or Lean projects. The candidate will also lead project teams and promote and lead change by shifting paradigms, challenging the status quo and demonstrating delivered results from Six Sigma and/or Lean projects.

CI Engineer

  • Leads Continuous Improvement activities including Six Sigma or Lean Project Teams through the five step process of Six Sigma to make improvements on product and processes, WCM and 5S initiatives.

  • Works with the Leadership Team in the identification and selection of appropriate Six Sigma projects, WCM, Lean Manufacturing and 5S projects.

  • Works behind the scenes with the Teams to facilitate the advancement of the projects.

  • Accountable for the progress of these projects.

  • Communicates the progress through each phase of the project with a written report that covers the main point and the impact of the project.

  • Educates the Six Sigma and/or Lean Project team about each phase of the process as the team progresses.

  • Using the tools and skills of Blackbelt and/or Lean training, ensures that the team is functioning as a team for the breakthrough improvements.

  • Partners with Finance to measure the financial impact of completed projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5 -10 years of experience

  • Previous Manufacturing experience in Quality, Safety, Systems, Lean, or Six Sigma principles/methodologies is desired.

  • Ability to effectively combine theoretical training with practical experience in a "hands on" environment. Must have personal computer proficiency, business administration know-how, and the ability to communicate ideas orally and in writing as well as lead project teams.

PST is a supplier which abides by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As such, persons considered for this position must be either a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder) or otherwise classifiable as a U.S. person under relevant ITAR regulations.
