Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seekinga Continuous Improvement – Operational Excellence Manager in Indianapolis, IN.

This individual will support our Americas service business and will report to the VP Americas.

Continuous Improvement – Operational Excellence Manager

  • Implements Continuous Improvement strategy throughout PST’s Americas business working closely with the leadership team, assigned CI personnel, and key stakeholders providing leadership and guidance.

  • Promote and fully leverage the entire suite of Lean/Six Sigma toolsensuring alignment with Praxair’s overall business strategies and priorities

  • Leads other Continuous Improvement Engineers in the methodologies, tools and applications

  • Serves as a change agent by stimulating, communicating and institutionalizing Continuous Improvement initiatives

  • Communicates with senior management on project and program metrics

  • Maintains productivity database

  • Provides overall leadership and direction for Continuous Improvement initiatives by analyzing and improving manufacturing (and support) processes

  • Initiates and conducts project reviews with project team members and others as appropriate (i.e. engineering, manufacturing, safety, quality manager, and plant management.)

  • Assigns and or executes duties for Continuous Improvement projects

  • Leads and reviews proposals directed toward cost reductions or avoidance.

  • Monitors and documents all aspects of spending (capital and expenses) relating to projects, processes, repairs, and improvements implemented

  • Performs all duties as assigned and in accordance with required safety regulations and quality standards

  • This position is expected to travel approximately 50% of the time (mostly domestic)


  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred

  • Certified Black Belt from a recognized company or institution

  • 10 years experience as Black Belt and/or Lean Practitioner with a proven record of executing Kaizen events and implementing quality projects across various functional and process areas

  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean/Six Sigma processes, tools and philosophies

  • Ability to coach, mentor and advance/promote Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and tools throughout the global organization

  • 5 years Project Management experience

  • Results oriented, strong sense of urgency, proactive, flexible and adoptable.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Strong organizational and team building skills

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, statistical tools, project management tools, etc.
