Health, Safety and Environment Technician


Praxair Surface Technologies (PST)is seeking for a Health, Safety and Environment Technician who, under the Health, Safety and Environment Manager, assure the respect of the safety department’s policies and procedures.

Principle tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure the 0/0 safety goal is met

  • Maintain the safety action plan

  • Ensure employees follow Health and Safety rules

  • Identify and assess health risks to workers

  • Maintain the industrial hygiene program by taking air samples and keeping the SDS database up-to-date

  • Maintain the STOP program

  • Plan, host and coordinate the safety training of all employees

  • Ensure case management of work related injuries and illnesses

  • Write incident reports for work-related or off-the-job injuries and illnesses

  • Open investigations and determine root-cause analyses for work-related injuries and illnesses

  • Implement corrective actions (FMEA, RCA, etc.)

  • Coordinate temporary assignments

  • Ensure the Personal Protective Equipment inventory is available at all times

  • Update Job Safety Analysis boards

  • Ensure the ergonomy of work positions

  • Perform other tasks related to health and safety of the employees


  • Post-secondary education in a discipline related to occupational health and safety (College or Bachelor’s degree);

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar position

Skills and abilities

  • Good analytical problem-solving skills;

  • High level of organization and planning;

  • Good understanding of ergonomics;

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and with a team;

  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written;

  • Bilingual in French and English (oral and written);

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
