Human Resources Generalist


Praxair Distribution Inc., a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking an HR Generalist for our Central Region located in Burr Ridge, IL.

The HR Generalist will assist management and employees relating to all phases of Human Resources.

The HR Generalist will provide advice and counsel to managers, supervisors, and employees on a variety of human resource issues. The HR Generalist works within an assigned business region to provide employee resources expertise to that organization in all aspects of the human resources function. This role will report to the HR leader for our Central Region.

HR Generalist

  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and integrity

  • Acts as a mediator, counselor, and facilitator in arbitrating disputes between employees and their supervisors and managers. Uses care and judgment to ensure fairness and equity throughout the counseling process

  • Responsible for identifying and meeting company's organizational development needs

  • Partners with talent acquisition to help managers with recruitment by assisting in the requisition and selection process

  • Contribute as a project leader or contributor on various department and business line initiatives

  • Partners with Labor Relations team and local Business Agents on union issue resolutions

  • Formulates training programs and schedules based on company and employee needs

  • Completes monthly reporting on HR analytics

  • Partners with managers on compensation and job analysis to provide recommendations and ensure consistency across the region

  • Assists with developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives


  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 3-5 years Human Resources experience

  • Employee Relations & Talent Acquisition experience preferred

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with SR Management

  • SPHR or PHR Certification is a plus

  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50%
